The department for newborns has been modernized at the children’s hospital of Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, a major overhaul of the second block of the infant building of the State Budgetary Institution «City Hospital No. 5 — Center for Maternal and Child Health» has been completely completed.
The building, built in 1983, has been in need of serious renovation for many years. The major renovation lasted several years and included a complete replacement of engineering systems, renovation of the facade, landscaping of the surrounding area and the introduction of modern solutions that complied with current sanitary and fire safety standards.
This is a huge step forward for us. Living conditions for mothers and children have improved significantly. Now we have spacious, bright rooms, comfortable working conditions for staff and, most importantly, a safe and comfortable environment for the recovery of our youngest patients— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department of pathology of newborns and premature infants, Elena Tambovtseva.
The department has 36 beds: 29 for newborns and premature babies, the rest for pediatric patients up to three months. It provides comprehensive care: from nursing premature babies to diagnosing and treating serious pathologies in newborns. Children with surgical problems are operated on in the hospital’s inpatient department and then continue treatment in this department. There is also a follow-up room in the building, where children are observed until they are three years old.
During the renovation, special attention was paid to the introduction of advanced medical and engineering solutions. Thus, an oxygen therapy system has been installed at the facility, which allows children to be transferred from intensive care to mothers’ wards as early as possible, mother and child stay together has been ensured, equipment for phototherapy for neonatal jaundice has been placed in sufficient quantities, modern incubators (ICUs) have been purchased for nursing premature babies, maintaining the required temperature, humidity and sterility.
Each room has a separate sink, and each block, designed for two or three rooms, is equipped with a shower and toilet.
We completely dismantled the old systems and reinstalled everything: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, sewerage, water supply. For the first time, the building now has medical gases, a staff call system in each room, modern fire and security alarms, and video surveillance around the entire perimeter and inside the building. Access control has also been organized — access to the floors is possible only with special cards, — The press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the general director of the contracting organization Konstantin Rebenkov.
According to the head of the capital repairs department of healthcare facilities of the Unified Directorate of Capital Construction, Alexandra Krikunova, the site is now undergoing commissioning work on all engineering systems — ventilation, alarms, video surveillance, internal communications. At the same time, general cleaning is carried out and technical documentation is prepared for licensing.
After delivery of the building to the customer, receipt of all permits and completion of inspections by supervisory authorities, the building will be officially put into operation and will begin to accept patients.
