The First Congress of Sisters of Charity of Crimea and Novorossiya will be held in Sevastopol

On March 8-9, 2026, the Crimean Metropolis, together with the capital’s Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, and the Christian Mercy charitable foundation will hold the First Congress of Sisters of Charity of Crimea and Novorossiya in Sevastopol. To discuss current issues of sisterhood and exchange experiences, representatives of more than 35 sisterhoods from various regions of Russia will gather at the event in the museum and temple complex “New Chersonesos”.the message says.

According to the chief physician of the St. Alexy Hospital, Alexey Zarov, this event can be called epoch-making: sisters of mercy from all over the country will gather together for the first time.

We are looking forward to the congress with great enthusiasm to meet dedicated people from different parts of our country. Over the years, many of them have become our friends.“, he says, noting that today in Crimea there is an active revival of the sisterhoods of mercy.

For two years now, the Training Center of St. Alexius Hospital has been conducting professional training in caring for the wounded and seriously ill, and sisterhoods have appeared in seven Crimean cities.

The Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexis is a medical institution of the Russian Orthodox Church, a multidisciplinary medical institution with 300 beds. People from all regions of Russia are treated here, regardless of religion. The hospital is located in Moscow. Branches were opened in Shuya, Ivanovo region, in Zhukovsky, Moscow region, and in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl region. A Center for Prosthetics and Medical Adaptation has been established in Gorlovka (DPR). There is a licensed Training Center for training junior nurses in patient care. The hospital is one of the main centers in Russia for the training of nursing sisters and the development of sisterhoods of mercy.
