Crimean farmers have begun harvesting their first strawberry harvest in 2026, with plans to produce at least a thousand tons by the end of the season. The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic, Denis Kratyuk, told reporters about this.
Traditionally for Crimea, the strawberry harvest this year began at the end of April. We are now at the peak of this cleanup. This is the first crop to be harvested this year. We will still have several waves, all depending on the variety. Either these are remontant varieties, or these are varieties that produce two large harvests — two large waveshe said.
We grow the Italian variety “Clery”, which has proven itself quite well in our area. The result is a sweet and sour berry, and most importantly, a transportable berry. At the moment it suits us. This is an early ripening variety that suits our climatic conditions perfectly.,” explained the enterprise’s agronomist Vasily Leshkevich.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea added that this year farmers began to grow new varieties with improved characteristics — soon they will also appear on the shelves.
The technology has been proven — now all that remains is to choose a variety that will be interesting and attractive to the buyer, both in appearance and in price,” Kratyuk emphasized.
