The flu situation in Russia remains tense
The incidence rates of ARVI and influenza in Russia do not exceed critical values, although the situation remains tense. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko announced this at the site of the Russia Today media group.
The increase in incidence is small. In some regions, such as the Murmansk and Leningrad regions, due to travel abroad, the incidence is higher. In Moscow there is, but at a level not exceeding the epidemic value. And at the same time, we characterize the situation as tense,” Onishchenko noted.
According to him, a decline in the incidence rate across the country was recorded during the holiday and New Year period.
An almost complete reduction in the incidence of seasonal acute respiratory diseases and influenza should be expected in March-April, Onishchenko noted.
At the same time, 80 million people have been vaccinated across the country so far. According to the RAS academician, this figure is insignificant.
Quadruple vaccines were now used. With different strains. Also, children’s and adult vaccines were prepared separately. For citizens who wanted to be vaccinated with foreign drugs, these were available in the pharmacy chain— said Gennady Onishchenko.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia in a week the number of cases of acute respiratory viral infections has grown by almost 10%. At the end of the fifth week of 2026, the country recorded an increase in the incidence of respiratory viral infections by 9.6% compared to the previous week — 665 thousand cases were registered.
In Crimea also marked an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections by 12 percent, eight schools were closed for quarantine, the Interregional Office of Rospotrebnadzor for Crimea and Sevastopol reported earlier.
