The market for online casinos banned in Russia has exceeded the legal gambling sector, but significant results in the fight against the shadow sector have not yet been achieved. On February 17, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Ivan Chebeskov spoke about this at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.

The senators asked the Ministry of Finance to speed up the passage of previously introduced bills prohibiting the acceptance of bets from credit cards, as well as prohibiting the admission of incapacitated and partially capable citizens to gambling and betting. The head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Andrei Kutepov, drew attention to the work of foreign online casino sites, which, according to him, are growing like mushrooms.
Russians annually spend about two trillion rubles in bookmakers, said Ivan Chebeskov. He called illegal casinos a big and main problem, and the amount of money that Russians leave there even exceeds the legal sector.
