The Great Sevastopol Trail celebrated its 10th anniversary

October 30 marked 10 years since the official opening of the Great Sevastopol Trail — one of the most picturesque and significant tourist routes in Sevastopol.

Eight main routes with a length of about 117 kilometers cover the territory from Balaklava to Lyubimovka, crossing the main ridge of the Crimean Mountains. There are also ten additional routes and rocky via ferrata routes designed for experienced hikers. Taken together, the network of the Great Sevastopol Trail includes more than 220 kilometers of walking routes, most of which pass through specially protected natural areas.

Over the course of ten years, the trail has become not just a tourist attraction, but a symbol of respect for nature and responsible tourism. To preserve it in its original form and ensure the safety of visitors, joint efforts are being made by Sevprirodnadzor, the Directorate of Protected Natural Areas and Forestry and the Center for Tourism Development. Specialists regularly inspect routes, update navigation signs, repair entrances, carry out anti-tick treatment and organize garbage collection. On via ferrata, cables and fastenings are checked and tightened, and worn-out clamps are replaced — after all, passing these sections requires not only physical training, but also the mandatory use of special equipment.
