The Office for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases established that on the afternoon of June 26, 2022, a young man was driving at an excessive speed in his BMW X5 M car along the A-291 highway. At that time, on a section of the road in the Belogorsk district, a Renault Sandero and Nissan car was making out a minor accident. The driver of the BMW X5 M hit a Renault Sandero standing in the left lane of the road, which resulted in the squeezing of his body. After the force of the impact, Renault collided with a Kamaz car moving in the same direction with a semi-trailer.
As a result of a traffic accident, the 43-year-old driver of the Renault Sandero and his 42-year-old wife died at the scene. Their 15-year-old daughter was taken to a medical facility, where she died soon after.— the Investigative Committee recalled the circumstances of the accident.
It is reported that during the investigation a significant amount of work was carried out, autotechnical and forensic medical examinations were carried out, and direct witnesses to the accident were identified. Also, during the investigation, it was established that the young man had previously been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for speeding.
Interestingly, the defendant admitted his guilt in the committed crime only partially. The investigation is completed, a sufficient evidence base has been collected. The materials of the criminal case were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, signing and sending to the court. And how the young man will be punished now depends only on the judges.
What is the range of punishments under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation? We quote the legislative
Shall be punished with forced labor for up to five years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, or imprisonment for a term of up to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
