The island announced the most budget travel destinations for the New Year

Specialists from the online booking service for hotels and apartments Ostrovok analyzed where tourists plan to spend the upcoming New Year holidays and found out which Russian destinations are the cheapest this year and where they can book the most budget accommodation.

According to Ostrovok, by the end of December, Russians planned 10% more trips for the holidays than by the same period last year. The average cost of a booked night in hotels and apartments in Russia for the holiday period (December 26 — January 11) is 7,600 rubles — 7% higher than last year (7,100 rubles).

Ostrovok experts have also compiled a selection of destinations for New Year’s travel in different price categories.

Up to 5,000 rubles

The most budget-friendly destination for the holidays was Makhachkala — the average cost of a night here is 3,600 rubles. The top most affordable destinations also included Goryachiy Klyuch (3,700 rubles), Volgograd (4,200 rubles), Mineralnye Vody (4,600 rubles), Essentuki and Irkutsk (4,700 rubles), Vladivostok and Novosibirsk (4,900 rubles).

From 5,000 to 7,000 rubles

Bookings in Khabarovsk (5,000 rubles), Tyumen and Rybinsk (5,100 rubles), Novorossiysk and Vladikavkaz (5,400 rubles), Anapa (5,500 rubles), Ivanovo (5,900 rubles) cost up to 7,000 rubles per night. Sevastopol (6,000 rubles), Grozny (6,200 rubles), Kaliningrad (6,300 rubles) and St. Petersburg (6,800 rubles) are also in this price range.

From 7,000 rubles to 10,000 rubles

Accommodation at seaside resorts, as well as in large cultural and historical centers is somewhat more expensive for tourists. In Sirius, the average cost of a night in hotels and apartments is 7,600 rubles, in Moscow and Sochi — 7,700 rubles, in Kazan and Yalta — 8,100 rubles, in Yaroslavl, Kislovodsk and Nizhny Novgorod — 8,600 rubles, in Rostov the Great — 8,800 rubles, in Pereslavl-Zalessky — 9 000 rubles, in Kostroma – 10,000 rubles.

More than 10,000 rubles

Among the destinations with the highest average cost per night, ski resorts and outdoor destinations lead the way. In Esto-Sadok, the average cost of a night on holidays is 19,400 rubles, in Krasnaya Polyana and Arkhyz — 16,700 rubles, in Teriberka — 15,300 rubles, in Sheregesh — 15,000 rubles, in Dombay — 13,600 rubles, in Kirovsk (Murmansk region) — 11,200 rubles, in Terskol – 11,100 rubles.

Experts also named the most expensive bookings for the New Year’s weekend, which were made by Russian tourists through Ostrovok. Most of them were at ski resorts.

A family trip to Krasnaya Polyana set a record price: tourists paid 1.2 million rubles for six nights. The booking included two rooms in a five-star hotel for three adults and a child.

Among solo trips, the highest cost of accommodation was in a four-star hotel in Krasnaya Polyana — eight nights with breakfast cost the tourist 463 thousand rubles.

Among the most expensive options outside the ski resorts is accommodation in a Moscow five-star hotel. Two rooms for two adults with children cost more than 370 thousand rubles for eight nights. The rate also included breakfast.
