The most difficult stage of construction of a sewer collector has started in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, the implementation of a large-scale infrastructure project continues — the construction of a sewer collector in the Balaklava region. The work is being carried out by the SoyuzDonStroy company. The project is being implemented within the framework of the state program for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

On March 5, one of the most difficult and important stages of construction began — the passage of the section in the Sarandinaki gully area. Here the collector will be laid using tunneling at depth in difficult geological conditions — in rock. This is the first time this construction method has been used in Sevastopol. The governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, arrived at the start of these works.

The most important stage of construction of the Balaklava collector, its most technically complex part, has begun. In the future, areas where integrated development programs for territories are being implemented will be connected to the collector on the 7th kilometer of the Balaklava Highway and on Sapun Mountain. And, of course, the yacht marina in Balaklava will be connected to it. Let me remind you that it was decided to use a collector to redirect wastewater to the Yuzhnye WWTP, where, in turn, the processing capacity was increased. Now a new stage of work has begun. We expect that everything will be done within the project deadlines, the surveys will be carried out, and no additional difficulties will arise during the work process. This is the first time such work has been carried out in Sevastopol, and this experience may be used in the future — the method allows excavations to be made at great depths without affecting land plots and buildings, — said the head of the city.

The diameter of the tunnel will be 2 meters, the length will be about a kilometer. To perform these works, a specialized tunnel boring machine AVN 2000 is used. The AVN 2000 machine is designed for microtunneling — a technology for constructing underground communications, in which the tunneling is fully automated, without the presence of people in the tunnel. The equipment allows laying pipes with a length of 3.15 meters and a diameter of up to 2.5 meters.

The tunnel boring machine is equipped with a hydraulic conveying complex, a cone crusher and replaceable cutting heads that adapt to different types of soil. The equipment can operate effectively in a wide range of geological conditions — from silt and clay to gravel and rock.

The length of the collector, which will run from the center of Balaklava to the middle of General Ostryakov Avenue, exceeds 14.6 km. Taking into account auxiliary lines, the length of the pipelines will be about 23 km. The new collector will allow for the collection and transportation of sewage water from the territory of the Balaklava region and will significantly improve the quality of centralized sewerage services for residents of adjacent areas, noted Sergei Bortsov, General Director of the SoyuzDonStroy company.

The entire object is considered unique because it combines different methods of laying communications. This includes open laying, horizontal directional drilling, and microtunneling. There are difficult conditions here, difficult soils. But nevertheless, we are ahead of schedule, laying communications. This year we will implement this project, which will ensure environmental protection of the city.he said.

The overall construction readiness of the facility is 50%. The completion date is 2027, and the work is progressing ahead of schedule. The implementation of the project will be an important stage in the development of the engineering infrastructure of Sevastopol.
