The peak of tick activity in Russia will come in mid-May — experts

Two peaks of tick activity are expected in Russia, the first of which will occur in May. Olga Skudareva, head of the department of biological safety and sanitary protection of the territory of Rospotrebnadzor, told reporters about this.

The second wave of activity, according to her, is expected in early autumn. At the same time, the specialist emphasized that in 70% of cases, suction occurs during outings and work in gardens and summer cottages.

In the regions of Russia since the beginning of the year it has been recorded about 100 complaints of tick bitesalmost half of them are in Crimea and Kuban, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor previously reported. The most effective measure of protection against tick-borne viral encephalitis is vaccination, the department noted.
