The project “Museum Routes of Russia” will be held in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

From October 13 to 16, a session of the All-Russian project “Museum Routes of Russia”, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, will take place in Sevastopol. The central theme of the forum will be the preservation and understanding of Christian cultural heritage in the modern world.

The program will bring together representatives of the museum community, scientific and educational organizations, clergy, as well as artists and cultural figures from all over the country. The events will be attended by Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Tikhon (Shevkunov), the Government of the city of Sevastopol, Director of the Department of Museums and Support of Circus Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Russia Elena Kharlamova, as well as heads of the largest federal and regional museums, scientists and experts.

The key event will be the plenary session “Guardians of the Third Rome”. It will be devoted to inter-institutional dialogue on issues of heritage conservation, new formats for its presentation and the modern mission of museums and other cultural organizations.

As part of the business program, there will also be expert sessions “Archaeology: heritage, challenges, technology, people” and “How to talk about Christian art today? Experience of a temple, a museum, an artist.” Speakers will discuss the role of museums in preserving historical memory and shaping the spiritual and moral guidelines of society, and will also present the most successful practices.

Participants will also enjoy a rich cultural program — the play “Woe from Wit” at the Sevastopol Russian Drama Theater named after Lunacharsky, the production of “Griffin” in New Chersonesos, as well as a traditional open lecture from the “First Person” series. It will be conducted by the General Director of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve Sergei Brun. He will talk about the modern perception of medieval art.
