The prosecutor’s office intervened in the work of the zoo in the village of Verkhnesadovoy

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, with the involvement of specialists from Rosselkhoznadzor, checked compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the responsible treatment of animals.

It was established that in the village of Verkhnesadovoye, a commercial organization organized a zoo in which alpacas, rabbits, llamas, goats and other animals are kept and used for cultural and entertainment purposes. Moreover, at the time of the inspection, the company did not have a license to carry out such activities. There was no area for storing biological waste on the territory; there were no containers for their collection, storage and movement. There were also no veterinary accompanying documents for products intended for animal feeding.

The environmental prosecutor submitted a proposal to the business entity to eliminate the identified violations of the law, which was reviewed and satisfied.

The prosecutor also opened cases of administrative offenses under Part 1 of Art. against the director of the company. 10.6 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of animal quarantine rules or other veterinary and sanitary rules), Part 2 of Art. 8.53 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (carrying out activities for the maintenance and use of animals in zoos without licenses) and Part 3 of Art. 10.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of veterinary and sanitary rules for the collection, disposal and destruction of biological waste). Based on the results of their consideration, the guilty official was fined 50 thousand rubles.

After the intervention of the environmental prosecutor’s office, the violations were eliminated. The organization received a license to carry out activities for the maintenance and use of animals in zoos, zoos, circuses, animal theaters, dolphinariums, and oceanariums.
