The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed a criminal investigation against a 45-year-old resident of the village of Nizhnegorsky, accused of robbery with objects used as weapons and illegal entry into premises with the use of violence dangerous to health (Part 3 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The Belogorsk Interdistrict Investigation Department established that on the morning of May 3, 2014, two masked men, armed with wooden sticks, entered a gas station in the village of Nizhnegorskoye. The accomplices stabbed two gas station employees, stole money from the cash register and fled the crime scene. As part of the investigation into crimes of past years, investigators and forensic investigators again studied the circumstances of the crime committed and the material evidence seized at the scene. The discovered tights used by the defendants as masks contained the genome of one of the suspects, who was registered accordingly. As a result, the DNA sample submitted for research on another crime coincided with that discovered in 2014,” the department’s press service reported.

During the investigation, all necessary investigative actions and examinations were carried out, confirming the man’s involvement in a particularly serious crime. The defendant fully admitted guilt in the incriminated crime; at the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The criminal investigation has now been completed. The materials were sent to the court for consideration on the merits. The investigation into the criminal case against the accomplice continues.
