The results of the Year of Defender of the Fatherland were announced in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, there is a wide range of social support measures for fighters — including the provision of land plots, a payment of one million rubles, social benefits, compensation for utility bills, free travel in passenger transport, the right to receive free legal assistance, employment assistance and other measures.

This year we also launched the educational program “Sevastopol — the City of Heroes”. This is an effective social elevator for heroes, allowing them to fully realize their potential for the benefit of Sevastopol and the whole country. Based on the results of the competitive selection, 65 finalists were identified; in the fall, the first full-time educational module was held for 34 participants from the first stream, and the second awaits them in February. All program winners are included in the city’s management personnel reserve.

Assistance to soldiers is also provided by: the Association of Veterans of the Northern Military District, a branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, and the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland. Organizations help with employment, organize legal and psychological support, provide defenders with disabilities with rehabilitation means, hold sports competitions and much more.

In total, more than 70 public organizations help the front: Sevastopol residents weave camouflage nets, make trench candles and dry rations, and raise funds to buy all the essentials for the soldiers on the front line. This year, the Sevastopol Humanitarian Mission alone made 14 trips “to the ribbon” and delivered over 420 tons of cargo for soldiers and residents of front-line villages. The government of Sevastopol provided free premises for the new warehouse of the Humanitarian Mission on Kosareva, 2; renovations are currently underway there.

In 2025, memorial plaques to the Heroes of Russia Nikita Mechtanov and Vyacheslav Pastukhov were unveiled and a decision was made to name 15 streets, a square and a boulevard in honor of the participants in the special military operation.
