“The transport tax should not be increased, but eliminated” — Sergei Mironov

Instead of a transport tax, it is necessary to introduce a full-fledged luxury tax, including on expensive cars. This was stated by the head of the A Just Russia faction, Sergei Mironov, commenting on the increase in transport tax in the regions.

Several regions are planning to increase transport taxes next yearnotes Sergei Mironov. – At the same time, the increase will most affect small cars, cars with a capacity of up to 100 horsepower. And these are, for example, “Zhiguli” and “Niva”. What about support for domestic producers? Apparently, she gave in to another task — to rip off more money from car owners. The program position of A Just Russia: the transport tax should not be increased, but eliminated. Fees from car owners are already included in fuel excise taxes, which are also constantly growing. And a few years ago, government officials promised during the next increase: we will raise excise taxes, but we will abolish the transport tax. But this extortion continues; as a result, motorists pay twice.

Sergei Mironov recalled another long-standing demand of the Socialist Republic: to introduce a tax on luxury, including on expensive cars.

It is necessary to introduce a full-fledged luxury tax for owners of expensive real estate, yachts, planes, and cars. Now in the case of cars, it is “built into” the transport tax — owners of powerful premium cars pay more. But it’s not enoughsays the head of SR. – Our faction has repeatedly introduced bills on a luxury tax. In particular, for cars over 20 million rubles, we proposed setting a rate of 1% of the cost, for cars worth 30–50 million – 2%, 50–100 million – 3%, from 100 million and above – 4%. This approach will be much fairer: instead of an excessive transport tax for everyone, we need a progressive tax on really expensive cars.
