The validity of tariffs for utility services in the regions of Russia will be checked by the FAS

FAS will check utility tariffs for economic feasibility. We are talking about the areas of electricity supply, heat supply, water supply and sanitation, gas supplythe message says.

The Antimonopoly Service reminds that from January 1, 2026, the base VAT rate increased by 2%, which should entail an adjustment in the cost of utilities, without fully taking into account the increase, but by only 1.7%. It is emphasized that this is only a change in taxation, and not a revision of regulated tariffs, which are approved separately.

Based on the appearance in the media and received appeals from citizens about the increase in tariffs above the specified indicator, the FAS and its territorial bodies will carry out control and supervisory actionsnoted the service.

Thus, since the beginning of February 2026, the FAS has been conducting inspections to determine the economic feasibility of expenses that are included in tariffs in the Tyumen region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

Inspections of three more regions are also planned: Sakhalin and Pskov regions, and the Republic of Udmurtia.

In addition, during the year, territorial bodies of the FAS will conduct separate inspections of tariff decisions in the areas of heat supply, water supply and sanitation,” concluded the department’s press service.
