Theft in the Simferopol region. «Volga» was returned to the owner, but why leave the keys in the ignition

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the Simferopol region, police officers uncovered the theft and returned the vehicle to its rightful owner.

A 55-year-old local resident contacted the police, who said that an unidentified person hijacked his GAZ-31029 car parked in the courtyard of his house. The victim told the police that he had left documents and keys in the ignition in the car.

As a result of operational-search activities, police officers, together with colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Krasnogvardeisky district, identified and detained three young people, one of whom turned out to be a minor— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

In the course of the proceedings, the involvement of the detainees in two episodes of other illegal activities was established. So, the defendants, moving in a stolen car, decided to commit a theft and appropriated someone else’s moped. It also turned out that one of the young people had previously stolen power tools from someone else’s garage.

The suspects confessed to the crime and wrote a confession. The vehicle has been returned to its rightful owner. On this fact, the interrogating officer of the inquiry department initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Unlawful possession of a car or other vehicle without the purpose of theft”).

The materials were submitted to the bodies of the Investigative Committee for a decision in accordance with the current legislation.
