There is a reason to get a new profession: the construction industry will be short of 400 thousand workers by 2030

CrimeaPRESS reports:

By 2030, the labor shortage in the construction industry will increase significantly. It will exceed 400 thousand people, Vitold Dagel, an expert on the construction and operation of industrial facilities, told RIA Real Estate.

According to the expert, for the normal functioning of the construction industry it will be necessary to increase labor productivity by 22% by this date. In an overheated labor market and a difficult economic situation, Russian businesses need to reduce costs without compromising production, as well as retain competent employees.

The personnel shortage is felt not only in construction, but also in other industries, Dagel noted. The outflow of workers has been felt since 2022, and due to the tightening of migration policy, it is not possible to find foreign workers to fill vacant positions. Companies are forced to cut costs while at the same time they need to retain specialists in the field. In such conditions, they are trying to find a middle ground — they transfer workers to part-time work, and offer unpaid leave as an alternative to layoffs. However, these measures are temporary; they provide a short delay, but do not solve the problem.

According to the expert, the best solution in this situation would be to increase labor productivity. This would reduce costs while maintaining production volumes, as well as retain qualified personnel in the field.
