According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), as of March 2, 2026, the average retail price of chicken eggs was 106 rubles per dozen. Compared to December 2025, this is an increase of 14.1 percent, and in February prices increased by 12.5 percent.
Price dynamics are mainly seasonal, experts say.
The fact is that in the first quarter of the year supply always decreases. For example, in 2025, in the first quarter, farms of all categories produced 11.3 billion pieces, in the second quarter — 12.6 billion pieces, in the third quarter — 12.6 billion pieces, in the fourth quarter — 12.1 billion,” Alexey Plugov, General Director of the Expert and Analytical Center for Agribusiness “AB-Center,” drew the attention of the Parliamentary Gazette.
However, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russian poultry farms are actively increasing the production of chicken eggs.
In 2025, all farm categories produced 4.3 percent more eggs—48.6 billion. In January 2026, the positive trend continued. However, if we compare the cost of eggs this year and last year, prices have not increased, but, on the contrary, have decreased.

Thus, on March 2, 2025, the average cost of eggs was 114.1 rubles per dozen, which is 7.1 percent lower than this year. And on March 2, 2024, the average cost of eggs was 128.3 rubles per dozen — this is 17.3 percent higher than now.
Thus, today the situation on the egg market is stable, production exceeds last year’s figures, and the price level for these products is lower than last year.
Poultry enterprises are operating as normal, fully meeting the country’s domestic needs. The possibility of a shortage of eggs is excluded; their cost in the future will remain at a stable level,” Galina Bobyleva, general director of the Russian Poultry Union, told the Parliamentary Newspaper.
At the same time, experts point out that there are no prerequisites for a reduction in prices.
The seasonal strengthening of prices may last until mid-April, then, in the context of a seasonal increase in supply, they will be adjusted towards weakening,” Alexey Plugov pointed out.
The Ministry of Agriculture also noted that everything necessary is being done to increase egg production.
To support poultry enterprises, a wide range of measures are in place, including preferential short-term and investment loans, as well as compensation for part of the direct costs incurred for the construction of first- and second-order poultry breeders in the amount of 25 percent of the cost of the facility,” the department’s press service indicated.
