Together with the authorities of the Republic of Crimea, we found a good place. There is already a park named after Zhirinovsky in Simferopol, and the party is considering installing a monument at this place. This year we would like to be on time; we have design solutions. We want this monument to be not just a monument, but to personify the spirit of Vladimir Volfovich, his attitude towards Crimeahe said.
The head of the Crimean branch of the LDPR, deputy of the State Council of Crimea Svetlana Shabelnikova clarified to TASS that the location for the installation of the monument has been determined and agreed upon with the administration of Simferopol — Zhirinovsky Square near the Moscow Hotel. She said that Zhirinovsky often visited Crimea during the period when the peninsula was part of Ukraine and was not afraid to say that Crimea was Russian.
The Zhirinovsky Square is located on the banks of the Salgir River near the Moscow Hotel not far from the central bus station of Simferopol. The decision to name the square in 2025 was made by deputies of the local city council.
Zhirinovsky died on April 6, 2022 at the age of 75. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on celebrating the politician’s 80th birthday at the state level in 2026. Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin was appointed head of the organizing committee for preparing the events. In total, the committee included 35 people, including TASS General Director Andrei Kondrashov and Channel One General Director Konstantin Ernst.
