Victory Day is a sacred day in our history
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, congratulated all the inhabitants of the peninsula on the Great Victory Day. He called this holiday a sacred day in our history and a sign of the victory of good over evil.
I heartily congratulate all of you on this significant date — the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War! This truly Holy Day of our history is a sign of the victory of good over evil, the triumph of Truth over the untruth and lies of this world. Today we are reflecting in a special way on the meaning of our Christian life, on the lofty mission of the God-saved Fatherland!
In the holy temples, we make a special commemoration of the deceased soldiers, who laid down their lives for their faith, the Fatherland and the people, and all those who suffered in the years of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
According to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, “we bow before the feat of our soldiers and all the people who stood up for Moscow and all of Russia. From a human point of view, it is impossible to fully explain this victory. And the Church, which looks at the history of mankind through the prism of a religious perception of life, testifies that the victory in the Great Patriotic War was a miracle of God— the congratulation of the Crimean Archpastor says.
He stressed that the great sacrifice of our people — 27 million lives — cannot be forgotten. According to him, thisnational feat of sacrificial love«.
I would like to address special words of gratitude now to the veterans and participants in the war, who captured the eternal Word of the Gospel with their feat: “There is no greater love than if someone lays down his life for his friends” (John 15: 13). Let us remember and sacredly keep in our hearts the memory of the Great Patriotic War. Let us collectively pray to the Lord for the gift of heavenly treasures to the warriors who fell in battles for the faith and the Fatherland, as well as for the health and longevity of the veterans living today. May the All-Merciful Lord preserve them for many and good years! God’s blessing be with you— said the head of the Crimean Metropolis.
