Who will they take, how much will they pay, what documents will they ask for: what you need to know about contract service

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Convicted men and those who have mental anomalies, infections and blood diseases, they want to be allowed to serve under the contract. On May 31, the deputies submitted the corresponding bill for consideration to the State Duma. According to its text, it is only allowed during mobilization, martial law and wartime. «Parliamentary newspaper» tells how contract service works in Russia and who can voluntarily join the armed forces right now.

Who are they waiting for?

According to the current legislation, conscripts, citizens in the reserve, young people enrolled in military universities, and women who are not in the reserve have the right to conclude a contract. In addition to Russians, foreigners can also use this right. But if the citizens of our country can conclude new contracts as the old ones end, then foreigners are deprived of such an opportunity — they are given the right to enter contract service only once.

In addition to citizenship and military status, there are a number of other requirements. So, the future contract soldier must speak Russian, be psychologically stable and physically healthy — both of which are determined by a special medical commission at the stage of considering the candidacy. Previously, higher education was added to these requirements. However, in recent years this bar has been seriously lowered. Now you can go on a contract right after school — neither higher nor even secondary education is required for this.

Who can be denied?

The decision whether to take a person to the service is made by a special attestation commission of the military unit. A candidate for contract service can either approve or refuse an application, for example, if there are no vacancies in the unit in his military specialty, if the candidate himself is under investigation or even more so if he is in prison, has an outstanding conviction, or he has been sentenced to an administrative penalty for using drugs. They will definitely refuse candidates who have been banned by the court from holding military posts for any period. At the same time, the potential contractor himself has the right to appeal against the negative decision of the commission through the court or the prosecutor’s office.

How to apply?

To sign up for contract service, you need to visit the district military registration and enlistment office or submit an application remotely — through the contract service website.rf or the public services portal. The application must be accompanied by a scan of the passport, a brief autobiography and a questionnaire filled out according to the model, a military ID (if any), documents on education and certificates of marriage and birth of children (again, if any). After that, the candidate will be invited for an interview and a medical examination, and if everything goes smoothly, they will issue an order to go to a military unit to serve.

For how long?

The contract can be concluded for a year, three years and five years. At the same time, the decision to conclude a new contract must be made no later than three months before the expiration of the old one. In addition, an already concluded contract can be terminated at any time by agreement of the parties.

Each contractor has the right to count on benefits and social support from the state — this is the opportunity to participate in a military mortgage, and credit and tax holidays, and budget places for children in universities, and a number of additional payments and guarantees from the regions of Russia. Also, the participants of the SVO are assigned the status of a combat veteran with all the preferences required by law.
