With a flick of the wrist… a 47-year-old Simferopol resident stole from a digital equipment store

The police of the Crimean capital received a statement from the administrator of one of the local digital equipment stores on the fact of the theft of a mobile phone. The applicant explained that an unidentified person, taking advantage of the lack of control of the staff, had stolen property from the shop window. As a result of operational-search activities, the identity of the suspect was established by the employees of the criminal investigation department. It turned out to be a 47-year-old Simferopol resident previously convicted of theft. The man was detained and taken to the police department, where he confessed to his deed and wrote a confession. The detainee explained that he had lost his phone on the same day.
The investigator of OP No. 1 «Zheleznodorozhny» of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Theft»). The attacker was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave, he faces up to five years in prison— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
