Yalta sumo wrestlers win prizes in the Russian Championship

Boys and girls competed in three age categories under 15, 17 and 19 years old. More than 1,000 of the strongest athletes from 35 regions of the country came to the tournament, which took place at the Ak Bars martial arts palace. For the winners, the tournament became a qualifying stage for international competitions as part of the Russian national team. Athletes from the Crimean Sumo Federation and the Yalta Sumo Federation took part in the competition. Our sumo wrestlers won prizes and places of honor in their weight categories:

Winners and prize-winners of the Russian Sumo Championship 2026 among boys and girls under 15 years old: Anastasia Pevneva (35 kg) — 1st place; Anastasia Khmelevskaya (35 kg) — 3rd place; Sofia Asatryan (45 kg) — 1st place; Maria Zhukova (45 kg) — 3rd place.

Prize-winners of the Russian Sumo Championship 2026 among boys and girls under 17 years old: Maria Zhukova (45 kg) — 3rd place; Ksenia Blazhenko (50 kg) — 3rd place; Amir Murodov (55 kg) — 3rd place.

Thanks to the victories of the Yalta team in the age group up to 15 years, the team of the Republic of Crimea took second place as a team. We express our gratitude to the coaches: Dmitry Danylishin, Sergei Rybalchenko and Vladimir Rybalchenko, Ekaterina Ruzhavnitsa, Andrey Dzyuba.
