KrymPRESS informs:

Comment of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea Yuriy Gotsanyuk in connection with the -summer anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad:

years of victory in the Battle of Stalingrad — the main battle of the twentieth century. Our country survived and won the greatest battle in the history of mankind. It was here, on the Volga, that a “radical turning point” took place in the Great Patriotic War and World War II, the enemy received a crushing blow. The Stalingrad epic lasted from 17 July 1942 to February 2 1943 of the year. days and nights of hell: massive bombardments and heavy artillery fire. The defense line stretched for hundreds of kilometers from north to south, the struggle was fought for every street, for every house.

During the counteroffensive, the enemy army was defeated, the enemy was surrounded, Field Marshal F. Paulus, 24 General, 2.5 thousand people. officers and about 90 thousand soldiers surrendered. This military disaster demoralized Germany and their allies. The heroism and courage of the defenders of Stalingrad became a symbol of the valor, steadfastness and courage of our soldiers, the strength of the spirit of the Soviet people. On this day, we bow our heads before the blessed memory of the heroes who, at the cost of their own lives, saved the world from fascism and defended our right to live in our native land. We remember, we are proud!
