10 bulls of a unique breed “limousine” were brought to Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Alime Zaredinova, announced that 10 bulls of the unique “limousine” breed have appeared in Crimea. In one of the farms in the Bakhchisarai region, the number of representatives of this breed is 950 heads.
There are more than a dozen farms in Crimea that produce beef. Our livestock enterprises raise Aberdeen-Angus, Hereford, Kalmyk cattle, and the only farm in Crimea, which is located in the Bakhchisaray district in the village of Zavetnoye, raises Limousin cattle. This hornless breed belongs to the meat category. The peasant farm has been developing this breed for 10 years. At the moment, the livestock numbers 950 heads of cattle. Of these, 520 are fattened. Recently, 10 stud bulls from Tatarstan were brought here— the press service quotes Alime Zaredinova.
The acting minister also noted that now the broodstock, together with the calves, is on a pasture that covers an area of 2.5 thousand hectares. The farm is an intensive feeding site without the use of GMOs and other unnatural growth stimulating substances. In addition to the limousines, Aberdeen Angus bulls are used for fattening, amounting to 20 percent of the total number of animals. In the near future, the manufacturer intends to increase the herd size to 2,500 thousand.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea provides support measures in the form of grants, as well as financing for the purchase of breeding stock. If farmers want to increase their livestock, they can receive funds to maintain the breed, as well as to expand the herd. If this enterprise later becomes a breeding enterprise, then we also provide annual support measures for the retained breeding stock to ensure that this stock is preserved and increased. This is a kind of gene pool that will increase the number of animals and increase meat production. This is what we strive fornotes Alime Zaredinova.
