10 people saved from fire in Feodosia
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On November 2, around 11:00, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in an apartment building on Druzhby Street in Feodosia. Eyewitnesses complained of a burning smell in the entrance.
Employees of the 4th fire and rescue squad immediately arrived at the scene of the fire. During the reconnaissance, it was established that the fire was located in one of the apartments on the first floor, where things were burning on the balcony with an open fire. The smoke was so strong that smoke from the burning apartment rose along the corridor and ventilation to the upper floors. The GDZS team had to rescue people from the upper floors using rescue devices through a smoke-filled stairwell. At the same time, with the help of a three-legged ladder and a ladder truck, people were rescued from the third floor. One of those rescued required medical assistance— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.
In addition, firefighters had to evacuate a citizen with limited mobility who almost inhaled carbon monoxide. True, he refused hospitalization.
The fire area was only 8 square meters, but this was enough to cut off the residents of an entire entrance from escape routes. As a result, thanks to the prompt and coordinated actions of the employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, 10 people were rescued from the fire.
Neighbors managed to get the elderly owner of the apartment out before the fire brigade arrived. The woman was at home alone. She doesn’t know what caused the fire. The citizen tried to cope with the fire on her own, but it was in vain, and she received burns of varying degrees of severity. Rescuers handed her over to emergency medical personnel.
The cause of the fire, according to preliminary data, was careless handling of fire by an unidentified person. Perhaps an unextinguished cigarette butt flew onto the balcony and started a fire. In any case, experts will determine the true cause of the fire.
