The State Council of the Republic of Crimea hosted a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the 2014 Crimean Referendum and the Day of the Reunification of Crimea with Russia.
Addressing those gathered, the Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, called the events of 2014 unifying.
The events of those days are fresh in the memory of their participants; Crimeans remember everything down to the smallest detail. The main condition for our overall success was that we did not seek profit. We were returning home. We did not compare living standards, did not ask what repairs and improvements would be made, and did not put forward any conditions. It was an internal state, a state of soul and heart. Everyone understood that the reunification of Crimea with Russia was a truly historical event… We have new achievements and new victories ahead of ussaid Sergei Aksyonov, thanking the Crimeans for their work and faith in our great country.
Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov noted that the Crimean Spring is a series of important events, our separately lived life.
In the March days of 2014, we managed to go our way, holding a referendum, we approached the highest level of development of Crimean society. I am grateful to the residents of the republic for their devotion to their sacred values and ideals, to the history that, despite all the difficulties, we have preserved in our hearts. This is the strength of the Crimean mentality.
I thank my friends, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Valerievich Aksenov and the honorary citizen of Crimea, Hero of Russia Oleg Evgenievich Belaventsev, with whom the Crimean Spring united us. Of course, the residents of the peninsula are grateful to our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who accurately assessed what was happening in Crimea and supported our aspirations to return home to Russia. The Crimean child finally found himself in the tender hands of the Motherland, which has been taking care of him for ten years now, protecting him from all troubles. The Crimean Spring is also important because it united the Russian world and gave hope to the Russian people to restore the power that our country had before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today, during the Northeast Military District, the processes launched by the Crimean spring are of fundamental importance. We need to build our new Russian world. This is difficult work, but we need to stop imitating the West and move our own way. In his welcoming speech, Hero of the Russian Federation, Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Crimea Oleg Belaventsev expressed confidence that descendants will remember with gratitude the events of 2014, celebrating the 20th, 30th and even 100th anniversary of the Crimean Spring:
Returning to 2014, I want to say that the spring of 2014 was God’s providence. The stars aligned so that people of different ages, beliefs, education and life experiences gathered here in the interests of protecting the Russian world, our language, traditions, history, culture and protecting everything valuable to our ancestors, who defended Crimea at all times.
He also thanked the leadership of Crimea and the deputy corps of the Republic for the decision made on February 27, 2014, calling it the only correct one.

10 years ago, all of Russia watched with admiration what was happening in Crimea. We were absolutely sure that they were right, and we understood that this was really the case: a question about the life and death of specific people. At the same time, as State Duma deputy, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin said, the fact that Crimea and Sevastopol turned out to be “in a foreign state — this is a terrible reproach to all of us living at that time, and, above all, to the then leaders of the country who agreed to this and allowed this.” He drew attention to the faith and desire of the Crimeans “to overcome this reproach, so that Crimea will actually return to Russia!«
Sergey Aksyonov and Vladimir Konstantinov presented Crimeans with state awards of the Russian Federation and Crimea, honorary titles and gratitude from the State Council and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, as well as passports to young residents of the Republic.
