As part of the operational and preventive measure «Mac», as a result of a set of operational and investigative measures, officers of the Department for Control over Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea detained a 29-year-old suspect in illegal drug trafficking, who was traveling in a personal car, in the village of Donskoye, Simferopol district.
As a result of the inspection of the vehicle, the operatives found and seized packages containing a substance in the lining of the luggage compartment that were similar in appearance and characteristic features to synthetic narcotics. The examination confirmed that the contents of the packages were ephedrone (methcathinone) with a total weight of 3 kg 699 g. The police found out that the suspect, a resident of Feodosia with no previous convictions, had traveled to another constituent entity of the Russian Federation in order to seize narcotics from a hiding place and subsequently intended to sell them in the territory of the Republic of Crimea through caches.— the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea noted.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Attempt at illegal production, sale or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues, as well as illegal sale or shipment of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, or their parts containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances). He has been remanded in custody.
