The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was deemed by the court to be sufficient to pass a guilty verdict against the 21-year-old resident of Inkerman, who had been previously convicted six times for car theft, robbery, illegal entry into a home, and attempted murder of a pensioner (Part 1 of Article 166, Subparagraph «g» of Part 2 of Article 161, Part 1 of Article 139, Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The Investigative Department for the Balaklava District and the court established that during September and October 2022, the young man, while intoxicated, committed a series of crimes against the person and property of Inkerman residents. In addition, the attacker, harboring a grudge against an elderly neighbor, entered her apartment on Yablochkova Street through the balcony, where he attempted to strangle the pensioner with a pillow and his hands. As a result of the injuries, the woman lost consciousness. The young man, believing that he had killed his neighbor, fled the scene of the crime. However, the victim soon regained consciousness– the Investigative Committee reported.

It was also established that near the house on Pogorelov Street the young man attacked a passerby and stole a mobile phone. In addition, near Lineynaya Street he stole a VAZ-21074 car parked at the side of the road, after which he was detained by police officers in the village of Lyubimovka.

The court found the man guilty of committing the aforementioned crimes and sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony. The court’s verdict has entered into legal force.
