More than five years ago, on May 16, 2018, at 5:30 a.m., the road part of the Crimean Bridge was opened to traffic: flows of cars and buses began moving in the opposite direction from both banks. Already in the first 24 hours, traffic on the Crimean Bridge exceeded 20 thousand vehicles.
Today, the volume of traffic flow has crossed a new threshold — during the entire period of operation of the Crimean Bridge, 26 million vehicles passed across it in both directions, of which 21.8 million were cars and almost 300 thousand buses, the rest of the traffic was freight transport. The total volume of vehicles was distributed almost evenly: 13 million vehicles traveled to the peninsula, and the same number to the mainland— said the FKU Uprdor Taman.
The record daily figure was recorded in August 2022: then the intensity of traffic flow was 38 thousand 297 cars in 24 hours.
More than 200 specialists and 35 pieces of equipment are responsible for the smooth functioning of the Crimean Bridge. At the bridge crossing there are automatic systems that inform drivers about the course of action depending on weather conditions.
