3 out of 4 Crimeans are in favor of creating a zoo police
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The bill on the organization of the zoo police — a body that would control pets, deal with the placement of stray animals in shelters and consider complaints about animal attacks on people — is being finalized and will be submitted to the State Duma by the end of the year. The SuperJob service found out from townspeople whether zoo police are needed in Russia. Economically active Crimeans took part in the survey.
77% of Crimeans supported the idea of creating a zoo police: 47% are completely sure of its necessity, 30% are rather sure. 23% of respondents were against such a proposal: 16% were rather against it, 7% were definitely against it. In their opinion, the existing legislation is quite sufficient: “There are all the norms of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. What is there to investigate? It is necessary to tighten the liability for owners for injuries caused by their animals — that’s all.”,” noted the service’s press service.
More often than others, respondents under 34 years of age (54%) expressed unambiguous approval of the idea of creating a zoo police. Women fully support the initiative more often than men (51 and 44%, respectively). Owners of cats and dogs (54% each) are more likely to be city dwellers who do not have four-legged pets (40%).
