32 mobile device thefts recorded in Crimea in a week

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Crimean police note: in the modern world, a mobile phone has become not just a means of communication, but an indispensable assistant, a repository of information, a key to bank accounts and a part of our lives.

In the period from July 15 to July 23, 32 cases of mobile device theft were registered in the Republic of Crimea, 27 of which were solved.

Following these steps will help reduce the risk of mobile phone theft and ensure your safety:

  • Keep a close eye on your device and do not leave it unattended in public places;
  • do not give your phone to strangers or people you don’t know well in response to a request for permission to make a call;
  • use screen lock and password features to access your device;
  • remember your device’s unique identifiers, such as the IMEI number, so you can quickly block it if it is lost or stolen;
  • consider using mobile apps to track the location of your device in case of loss or theft;
  • In case of loss or theft of a means of communication, contact the police immediately.

If you notice a mobile phone left unattended, please report it to the police by calling 102, which operates 24 hours a day.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea reminds: the stolen phone will still be found, and you will be subject to a criminal article: Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — theft. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
