April 26 is the Day of Participants in the Elimination of the Consequences of Radiation Accidents and Disasters and the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of These Accidents and Disasters.
On this day, 38 years ago, one of the worst man-made disasters in human history occurred — a reactor exploded in the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The unparalleled courage and determination of the liquidation warriors — firefighters, military personnel, medical workers, specialists — made it possible to significantly reduce the scale of radiation contamination and save people’s lives.
