4.6 km of water pipeline will be repaired in the Leninsky district of Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, as part of the implementation of measures to reduce losses in water supply networks, a major overhaul of water supply networks is underway from the water supply center — 7 to 2 km of the Balaklava highway. The water pipeline feeds the streets in the Leninsky district: General Ostryakov Avenue, Khrustalev, Shabalin, Nikolai Muzyki, Yakov Ivanov, Marshal Biryuzov, Lobanov streets.
The existing steel water pipeline with a diameter of 400 mm was built in 1963, its physical wear is over 80%. Over the sixty-year period of operation, no major repairs were carried out, and recently emergency situations have occurred on the network. We will overhaul 4.6 km of water mains using a trenchless rehabilitation method to minimize the need for excavation work. The method involves reducing the diameter of a polyethylene pipe, pulling it inside the pipeline being repaired and then restoring the original diameter with tight pressing to the walls of the pipe being repaired. This method is used both to repair structural damage and to protect against corrosion and eliminate leaks,” noted I. O. Deputy Governor Evgeny Gorlov.
He also added that the technology makes it possible to cover any damage to the pipeline, including structural damage, increase the capacity of the network and extend the service life of the water pipeline by 50 years.
