4 out of 10 Crimeans are in favor of banning animals in circuses
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Every second Crimean citizen under 34 years of age is against the use of wild and domestic animals in the circus. In a survey of a service for finding high-paying jobs Superjob Citizens from Crimea took part.
The State Duma will consider a bill banning animal performances in the circus. 40% of Crimeans agree that the use of both wild and domestic animals in circuses should be prohibited. 14% are against performances with wild animals. Opinions are divided on what to do with those wild animals who are now trained in circuses: some of the respondents believe that they should be allowed to work until they retire, some suggest sending them to zoos, and trying to return the young animals to the wild, while others believe that rehabilitation centers for animals should be built with conditions as close as possible to natural ones.
Women are more often against the use of any animals in the circus (48% versus 32% of men). Most of all supporters of the ban are among Crimeans under 34 years of age (53%).
Every fourth city resident (23%) disagrees with the ban and believes that there should be animals in the circus. Most often, this opinion is shared by representatives of the older generation (39% of respondents over 45): “The audience will be deprived of a magnificent spectacle”; “If scientific animals perform in circuses, they are no longer wild, since they grew up in captivity”; “It is enough to control the conditions of their detention and work.”
