55% of Crimeans support a lifelong ban on the sale of nicotine-containing products to those born after 2009

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The majority of Crimean residents support the initiative of the Ministry of Health to impose a lifelong ban on the sale of nicotine-containing products to those who are currently under 15 years of age inclusive. In a service survey Superjob Representatives of the economically active population from Crimea took part.

The Russian Ministry of Health proposed tightening the trade in tobacco and nicotine-containing products and banning their sale to everyone born after December 31, 2009. 55% of citizens support the initiative. Women are more likely than men to support the proposal of the Ministry of Health (59% versus 50%, respectively). City residents aged 35 to 45 support the ban more actively than those older and younger (56%). 6 out of 10 people who have never smoked also support the introduction of a lifelong restriction on the sale of cigarettes to people under the age of 2009.

19% are against the bill. “Any ban gives rise to a black market”; “As adults, people have the right to decide for themselves whether to smoke or not,” they comment. As expected, smokers are more likely to speak out against strict measures (25%).

It is worth noting that 29% of those who currently smoke plan to quit the bad habit in the next year.
