6 out of 10 Crimeans are sure that trade unions are needed

The majority of city residents believe that the Russian trade union movement is in decline. In surveys of a service for finding high-paying jobs SuperJob Representatives of the economically active population took part.
49% of Crimeans know nothing about the activities of trade unions in Russia. 10% of respondents give unconditionally positive assessments of the work of trade union organizations, another 11% are rather positive. 30% have a negative attitude: 18% of respondents assess the work of trade unions rather negatively, and 12% — completely negatively. Women are less aware of trade unions than men, and city dwellers under 34 are less aware than the older generation. The higher the income, the more often respondents are interested in trade union activities and the more often they evaluate them in a negative way,” noted the service’s press service.
60% of city residents are convinced that modern Russian society needs trade unions, and only 16% are convinced that they do not. The older the respondents, the more often they declare the need for trade unions: among respondents under 34 years old — 54%, and among respondents over 45 years old — 65%.
Today, only 5% of economically active respondents are members of trade unions in Russia. 46% had previously participated in the movement but had now dropped out. 49% have never been a member of a trade union organization.
63% believe that the trade union movement in Russia is in decline. Men hold this point of view more often than women (68 and 58%, respectively). Most of those who talk about the decline of trade unions are among respondents over 45 years of age (70%). 27% of respondents believe that trade unions are in crisis. And only 10% called the current situation an improvement.
