72 people became victims of scammers in Crimea in a week

From March 4 to March 10, 72 citizens became victims of remote scammers in Crimea, of which 27 were elderly. As the police noted, the criminals’ methods are still the same – phone calls “from the bank”, the “your relative got into an accident” scheme, “easy money on the Internet”, “profitable online purchase”, installation of malicious applications…

A local resident contacted the Simferopol police after becoming a victim of a scammer. An unknown person called the woman, introduced himself as a bank employee and, under the pretext of protecting funds from alleged fraudsters, took possession of the applicant’s money, which was debited from her account after the woman performed certain actions under dictation in her Internet banking mobile application.

28 citizens, of whom 5 were elderly, fell for the tricks of scammers who use social networks, instant messengers and Internet sites.

A resident of Simferopol filed a fraud complaint with the police. The man said that on one of the websites he found an advertisement for the sale of building materials. Under the pretext of prepayment, he transferred funds to an unknown person and after that the connection with the “seller” was interrupted.

A resident of the Simferopol district told the police that an unknown person contacted him in the Telegram messenger and offered him a part-time job on the Internet, but for this he needed to make a “deposit”, which would later be returned with the entire amount earned. The applicant agreed, transferred the funds, and later realized that it was a fraudulent manipulation.
