As a result of operational and investigative activities, employees of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol, together with colleagues from the Russian Federal Security Service for the Black Sea Fleet, established the identity of the offender who made statements aimed at discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. He turned out to be a 77-year-old local resident.

The police found out that during a conversation with his colleagues at work, the man publicly expressed himself in a negative manner regarding the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, and to maintain international peace and security. The police drew up a report on an administrative offence against the offender, as provided for in Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation. The penalty under the article provides for a punishment in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of thirty to fifty thousand roubles.— the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol announced the details of the case.

The materials collected by the police officers were transferred to the Gagarinsky District Court for consideration on the merits.
