The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, together with the governor of the hero city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, took part in the event dedicated to the Day of the victorious completion of the Crimean offensive operation by Soviet troops during the Great Patriotic War.
Guests of the Museum Historical and Memorial Complex to the heroic defenders of Sevastopol “35th Coastal Battery” were greeted by the orchestra of the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy. Addressing those present, Sergei Aksyonov congratulated the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Crimeans and Sevastopol residents on the holiday, emphasizing that in the future all Russians will experience another Victory over the enemy.
Crimeans and Sevastopol residents have always been together. As in 1941 and 1945, as in 2014, today we, together with the entire country, are fulfilling the tasks that President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin set for us. Thanks to our unity, our consolidation around the Leader and the Armed Forces of Russia, we will achieve all the goals of the special military operation. The enemy will understand the futility of his attempts to break us and will be defeated. Our fellow countrymen, who, unfortunately, have been under the yoke of the Kyiv regime for too long, will be freed– the press service quotes the Head of Crimea.
The head of the republic also noted that the country is passing new tests courageously and with honor.
The feat of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, our fathers and grandfathers, became an example for each of us. Duty, honor, responsibility, love for the Motherland are of great importance for each participant in the special operation. These feelings are higher than the instinct of self-preservation, higher than fear. Our soldiers always find the strength to act calmly, boldly, based on the interests of the country. Thanks to such qualities of our people, Russia is prospering, living and will continue to live. Together we will break through all blockades. Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia forever! – notes the Head of Crimea.
In turn, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev emphasized the importance of the fact that the Day of the victorious completion of the Crimean offensive operation by Soviet troops was included in the federal law on days of military glory.
Today is an important, fateful day. It was on the land of the 35th coastal battery of Sevastopol that the Soviet army defeated the fascist troops. On May 12, 1944, the last German soldiers surrendered. It took our defenders only 35 days to defeat the powerful enemy defenses. And today our guys participating in the North Military District come to this place to touch the feat of their ancestors, gain strength and understand that the truth is behind us. This means that Victory will be ours,” emphasized the governor of the hero city.
During the event, the highest state awards of the Gold Star medal were handed over to the relatives of two Heroes of the Russian Federation: Corporal Nikita Mechtanov and Corporal Vyacheslav Pastukhov. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of April 16, 2024, the soldiers were awarded posthumously for courage, bravery and dedication shown in the performance of military duty. Then Sergei Aksenov talked with the relatives and friends of the fallen heroes.
Participants in the historical and patriotic action unfurled the State Flag of the Russian Federation and the Banner of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Flowers were also laid at the monument to “Those who stepped into immortality” and a minute of silence was declared in memory of the fallen liberators of the peninsula in May 1944.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the city of Sevastopol Vladimir Nemtsev, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet for military-political work, Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Vitold, Director of the Museum Complex “35th Coastal Battery” Valery Volodin, representatives of the All-Russian Social and State Movement of Children and Youth “ Movement of the First», All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic public movement «Yunarmiya», All-Russian public movement «Volunteers of Victory», Extra-budgetary division of the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star School named after P.S. Nakhimova, others.
