87 citizens underwent free diagnostics of malignant skin tumors in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Today, on World Cancer Day, the polyclinic of the oncological dispensary named after A. A. Zadorozhny hosted an open day. During the day, residents of the city received expert advice and underwent diagnostics: a thorough examination of the skin with dermatoscopy.

Thanks to such activities, we can identify those diseases that the patient sometimes does not even know about. The dispensary is equipped with new modern equipment that allows diagnosing and treating early and deeper forms of cancer. We have such a device as a dermatoscope equipped with artificial intelligence. The patient comes, we check his skin. Simultaneously with dermatoscopy, we can take a biopsy, and even if we detect a small neoplasm, we can immediately remove it and send it for research , — Dauren Boshataev, head of the prevention department of the oncological dispensary, quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol.

Open door days in the oncology dispensary are always aimed at preventive examination of Sevastopol residents. As Dauren Boshataev added, in oncological practice, like nowhere else, prevention is crucial.

Last year, we see an increase in the number of cancer cases, while we see a decrease in the number of deaths from cancer. Whereby? The number of cases increases due to the fact that we detect diseases in the early stages, and life expectancy increases due to the fact that we start treatment earlier. The first place in oncological diseases in Sevastopol, in the country, and in the whole world is occupied by skin cancer. 24% of all oncological diseases are skin diseases,” emphasized the head of the prevention department of the oncological dispensary.

Patients who were diagnosed with suspected neoplasms today were sent for biomaterial sampling for morphological examination, after which they were given recommendations for further actions.

We try to hold open days as often as possible, at least once every two or three months.

These events allow us to focus the attention of the population on the need to pay attention to their health. Indeed, we detect oncological diseases on them — this is always an early stage, which allows us to treat them quite effectively. We started holding open days in Sevastopol from 2019 year. We do them not only in our dispensary, we also hold offsite events. Last year, oncologists of the dispensary took an active part in conducting medical examinations for residents of the North Side and the Balaklava district. Now this useful event is quite popular among Sevastopol residents , — says Vasily Oshchepkov, head physician of the oncological dispensary.

In total, doctors examined 87 patients that day. In 3 of them, malignant neoplasms of the skin were detected, in 29 — suspicion of malignant neoplasms.
