9 percent of Sevastopol residents can be considered poor

CrimeaPRESS reports:

This means that their monthly income does not exceed 13.5 thousand rubles. The population of Sevastopol in 2023, according to Rosstat, is 558,273 people, i.e. 50,244 Sevastopol residents live below the poverty line.

RIA News conducted a study and compiled a rating of Russian regions by income of the population. The analysis was based on Rosstat data at the end of 2022. According to the rating, Sevastopol was in 40th place: the median salary in the region is 1.56 times the cost of a fixed set of goods and services necessary for survival. At the same time, 9% of the population lives below the poverty line in the city. It should be noted that this is not the worst indicator in the Southern Federal District, so in the Krasnodar Territory, which took the 14th line, this indicator is 1.84 and just like in Sevastopol, 9% live below the poverty line, in the Rostov Region — 1, 61 and 10.5% below the poverty line, in the Republic of Crimea — 1.28 and 14.5% respectivelysays «Sevastopol newspaper».

On the whole, in Russia, people in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug live best financially (only 4.5% of the poor). In Moscow, 5% of the population lives below the poverty line, and worst of all, residents of Ingushetia, where the figure has reached 30%.

The national average at the end of 2022 is 9.8% or 14.3 million people, against 11% and 16 million people in 2021. At the same time, the local maximum for the share of poor Russians was in 2000 — 29%. Thus, over the past little more than 20 years, the situation with poverty has improved several times.
