97 birds affected by fuel oil were brought to the Kerch headquarters in three days

From February 14, 97 birds were brought to us — these are Gagars and Chomgi. We werehed them and prepare them for transportation in the safari park «Taigan», — said the volunteer.

According to him, now the capacity of the aviary is expanded at the headquarters, who, after the end of work, will be able to accommodate 200 birds instead of the current 100.

Gorshkov added that on Monday the volunteers will go to the Arshintsevskaya braid where, according to preliminary monitoring data, there are about a hundred more injured birds.

December 15 2024, during a storm in the area of ​​the Kerch Strait, the Volgonft 212 and Volgoneft 239 tankers crashed. 27 sailors were evacuated, one of them died. About 2.4 thousand tons of fuel oil hit the sea.

Work on the salvation of the victims as a result of the catastrophe of birds was organized immediately after the discovery of the first infected individuals. It is conducted by volunteers for both in Crimea and in the Kuban.
