A 25-year-old resident of the Simferopol region did not pass the “money test”. Other people's money

Police officers of the Simferopol region detained a suspect in the theft of money from an ATM.

A 48-year-old local resident turned to the duty unit of the Russian MIA Department for the Simferopol District, who said that he had made an operation at an ATM to replenish a bank card in the amount of 98 thousand rubles. Returning home, the man discovered that he had forgotten his bank card in the device, and after checking the bank account, he found out that the funds had not been credited to the account.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department identified and detained the suspect. It turned out to be a 25-year-old young man who told the police that, being close to one of the ATMs, he drew attention to a banking operation that was not completed by the previous client. Seeing the money left in the bill acceptor, he decided to appropriate cash and a forgotten bank card— told the details in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

During the inspection at the place of residence of the attacker, the police found stolen 85 thousand rubles and a bank card belonging to the victim. The rest of the money the suspect spent on his own needs.

The detainee admitted his guilt and returned the money to the applicant in full. Nevertheless, a criminal case was initiated under the article “theft” (part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
