A 39-year-old robber was caught in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, police detained a suspect in a robbery against a pensioner and theft of his money from a bank card. As reported by the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the attacker turned out to be a 39-year-old local resident, who had previously been repeatedly convicted of property crimes, including assault and robbery.

It was established that in the evening a 74-year-old pensioner, who was walking near one of the city parks, was approached by an unknown person and suddenly punched in the head. When the elderly man lost his balance and fell to the ground, the attacker continued to beat him with his hands and feet, and then stole money from his T-shirt pocket in the amount of about two thousand rubles, a bank card and the identity of the Chernobyl accident liquidator. Having received the desired criminal loot, the attacker fled the crime scene in an unknown direction. He spent the money on alcohol, and used a bank card to pay for several purchases worth about ten thousand rubles— the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol gave details.

As a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the Balaklava region identified the attacker and, with the force support of the special unit of the Russian Guard SOBR “Sokol”, detained him.

The investigative department of the Department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment. The defendant was taken into custody.
