A batch of Malva self-propelled wheeled howitzers was delivered to the troops.
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Rostec has supplied the Russian troops with a batch of the latest 152-mm Malva self-propelled wheeled howitzers. They are more maneuverable than tracked artillery mounts, at the same time they have a greater technical resource and are cheaper to operate. Howitzers are designed to destroy command posts, defensive structures, artillery and missile batteries, air defense systems, columns of armored vehicles and enemy personnel.
«Malva» was created on the basis of the BAZ chassis with an 8×8 wheel arrangement. The installation’s ammunition capacity is at least 30 rounds. On public roads, the wheeled howitzer can travel 1,000 km without refueling, and thanks to all-wheel drive and a powerful diesel engine, the vehicle can overcome off-road conditions well.
The gun mount can be transported by military transport aircraft — Malva fits into the cargo compartment of an Il-76 and can be quickly delivered over long distances. Deploying to a position, leaving it and aiming at a target takes much less time for a wheeled howitzer compared, for example, with towed guns.
The Malva self-propelled wheeled howitzer is a modern and powerful weapon that can be used to destroy almost any object with high-explosive fragmentation shells at a range of more than 24 km. Thanks to its wheeled chassis, it is able to quickly turn around in position and leave it, avoiding return fire, which is very important in counter-battery warfare. The gun mount has an automated calculation of firing parameters for all types of ammunition. The gun mount also has a “simultaneous fire attack” mode, when several shells fired along different trajectories and at different speeds hit the target simultaneously— the press service quotes the industrial director of the cluster of conventional weapons, ammunition and special chemicals of the Rostec State Corporation Bekhan Ozdoev.
