A bill has been submitted to the State Duma designating March 18 as the Day of Reunification of Crimea with Russia
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Also notesthat this same document eliminates the contradictions in the dating of historical events that arose during the transition from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. The date of the Battle on the Ice from April 18 is replaced by April 5, the Battle of Kulikovo — from September 21 to September 8, the Battle of Poltava — from July 10 to July 8, the Battle of Borodino — from September 8 to September 7.
The changes were supported by the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Military Historical Society. The updated dates have already entered the history books— said the party.
A referendum on the issue of reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia against the backdrop of a coup in Ukraine was held on March 16, 2014. 96.7% and 95.6% of voters in Crimea and Sevastopol, respectively, voted in favor of reunification with Russia. On March 18, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the admission of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation, and on March 21, the document was ratified by the Federal Assembly.
