In Crimea, a campaign is underway to stock reservoirs with fingerlings of grass carp and silver carp. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk. According to him, since the beginning of the year, employees of the Crimean Fish Hatchery have raised more than 1 million fry.
Since 2019, the enterprise has raised and released more than 4 million juvenile freshwater fish into Crimean reservoirs. Such work is carried out within the framework of the state task for raising juvenile grass carp, silver carp and carp. The event takes place in accordance with the land reclamation program. Over the course of several months in the first half of the year, about 350 thousand fry raised in the Fish Hatchery were released into the reservoirs. Now, in the second half until the end of the year, about a million more young individuals will enter the reservoirs. Today the fry were released into the Simferopol reservoir. Before this, Bakhchisarai and Leninskoe were stocked with fish for about a month. One of these days they plan to release the juveniles in Feodosiya,” commented the head of the Crimean Ministry of Agriculture.
Andrey Savchuk recalled that in May 2023, Fish Hatchery employees conducted a spawning campaign. The fish were raised from eggs to adults. On the territory of Russia, this is the only enterprise that is owned by a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. It was created back in Soviet times in order to maintain the sanitary condition of water bodies using an ecological method.
