A case of production of unlabeled canned fish has been solved in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The investigative unit of the Investigative Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea was investigating a criminal case against a commercial organization that sold unlabeled food products, the activities of which were stopped by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Simferopol region of the Republic of Crimea, together with employees of the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea.
According to investigators, the head of the company, from 2017 to March 2023, organized the production and storage in warehouses of canned fish, allegedly made from saury. To reduce costs and increase profits, canned food was filled with cheaper food raw materials. Information about the actual composition of the products was deliberately not included on the packaging. Counterfeit goods were sold in retail chains in the Republic of Crimea and other regions of the country— said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
Income from criminal business exceeded 260 million rubles. The examination confirmed that there was herring inside the seized cans. In total, 30 thousand units of products with a total value of 2.5 million rubles were withdrawn from circulation in three constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
An investigator of the investigative unit for the investigation of organized criminal activities of the Investigative Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea charged the detainee with a crime under Part 4 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior. The organization’s property was seized in the amount of more than two million rubles— said Irina Volk.
Currently, the criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor has been sent to the Simferopol District Court for consideration on the merits.
